Croydon Council’s dog warden, Tara Boswell, has once again been honoured with the prestigious Platinum RSPCA PawPrints Award, marking the second year in a row she has received this accolade. This recognition highlights her exceptional work in promoting animal welfare across the borough.
The award acknowledges Tara’s efforts in rehoming stray dogs, securing rescue placements for those that are unclaimed, and providing valuable services such as free microchipping and advice to encourage responsible dog ownership. Her collaboration with organisations like the RSPCA and the police to enforce animal welfare laws was also a key factor in her receiving the award.
Tara’s consistent track record of excellence is well established, as she won the Gold award five times, which led to her automatic upgrade to Platinum. She first earned the Platinum award last year.
Expressing her pride, Tara said: “I take pride in the dog warden service and working for Croydon Council. Making a difference to the lives of animals in our care is very important to me and hugely rewarding. The RSPCA Stray Dogs PawPrints Awards are the only awards that celebrate the work of dog wardens, and I am extremely honoured to have been awarded platinum.”
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, added:
“I am really proud of Tara’s achievements, who showcases the best of Croydon. Her vital work helps improve the lives of our four-legged friends by giving them new homes and also helps and encourages residents to become better owners.
“To win the top award six times in a row shows she is at the top of her game and is a great example for how dog wardens can support the communities they work in.”
