It has been a busy first month in office as Croydon’s first Executive Mayor. In the past four weeks I have taken immediate action to begin tackling the issues residents told me matter to them – from cleaning up our streets to sorting out planning and making our housing better for tenants. Beginning these processes has been important first steps and next week we will publish a series of cabinet reports to continue driving these decisions forward.
We’ve also had a weekend of fantastic celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee, with communities across Croydon coming together at street parties and other events. As always, I felt proud to be a Croydonian and we have more to look forward to, including Croydon Pridefest this summer – particularly significant as we mark 50 years of the Pride movement.
There is much, much more to do in the months ahead and it will take time, but I am determined to keep up the pace of change that I know residents, businesses, our partners and everyone in Croydon wants. This is the message I am hearing loud and clear across the borough and my priority remains to keep on listening, and working with them and all of you, to restore pride in the place we all love.
